IT Quiz - Palakkad Revenue District 2010 - Interesting IT Knowledge
This blog was created 5 years ago, and it was inactive since then. But I felt it is high time to say something on the IT Education happening in Kerala Schools. The idea of reopening the blog came to my mind when I saw a presentation on web saying IT Quiz questions and answers conducted at revenue district level along with Science Fair in 2010. I heard a lot of news from IT@School saying they are doing a lot of stuff. I felt proud about it as we are the front runner in IT education over India.
But the pathetic implementation of the projects should be an eye opener to the government. After one decade of IT@School , I am just referring this silly example to show where we are in IT education.
This question paper for Quiz at District level IT Quiz says all.
Surely, I will be coming up with more on IT@School project, because I need at least one full day to type those blunders from IT@School during these years of implementation as I watched the implementation very closely.
My fear is that this question was prepared by a Master trainer or a Senior resource person @ district level IT education !!!

Question 3:
Which keys you need to use for typing the Malayalam word "Swagatham"? (A lot of this kind of questions were there, I can list atleast 5 here)
Answer: m d b e il x
The above examples were asked to different age level students and I just picked them from here and there.
Some more funny questions were there,like "On which site you can find malayalam fonts " Exact answer is Thousands of websites. Another question is, What is www.fivedads.com? Answer provided in the presentation was, Story telling site, Exact answer is it is just a Domain name. By googling you will get tons of websites doing the same thing(Story telling), nothing unique about it. If this question is official one then I wonder, what exactly is happening in Kerala's IT education?

A lot of questions are there , But I am copying some of the questions from the presentation , felt funny. I will translate the questions and answers as it is in malayalam

Sir,
IT Quiz competition is a part of the 'IT Mela' by the department of education. The quiz masters were selected by different committees locally (sub-district, district etc.) 'it@school' has no role in the process.Only the conducting of the 'State IT Fare' rest with it@school.
So please don't blame it@school for the so called 'blunders'
"we cannot reprove it@school for its functions in improving the quality of ICT education for both students and teachers".

My question still remains, these people were trained and given training to lot of people under ICT.
After these much years, I think around a decade, where we are now is the question. This resource also will be atleast a Master trainer or a Resource person of ICT. If this is communicating to students in their training , what is the use of these millions spending every year.

Last year's Ernakulam Quiz Master was Mr. Vidhu from UC College Aluva
@ TVM it was Mr. V K Adarsh from Union Bank Kochi
...........................................I don't know the 'culprit' from Palakkad. But, if u insists, I can search.
Please don't blame it@school for not afault of it.

Anyway Iam sure that the ICT study in school is very sensitive....It isproposed to get aware of computers and its uses and not to become a software engineer or computer professionnal...I think so...and it may or may not....

Whoever preparing these questio ain't know sh*t about IT.
